Message From The Board

Happy Spring! It’s a great time of year with the trees, lawns and gardens coming back to life. The entire community seems to be renewed with energy and enthusiasm. It’s also a nice time of the year to be outdoors and say “hello” to your neighbors after a long, but mild winter. As more people are outdoors taking walks and children are playing, please slow down when driving through the neighborhood. As you have noticed, we now have a four-way stop at the corner of Golden Lake Way and Lake Pointe Drive, which will offer additional safety at this corner of our neighborhood where there is a school bus stop and neighbors crossing the street with children and dogs.

SPRING & SUMMER REMINDERS

Signs: Any kind of signs are not permitted, except signs promoting the sale of the lot (home) or contractors’ signs not to exceed 8 square feet.

Dogs: City code requires dogs to be on a leash when off the premises of the owner, and to pick up after them. This means they should not be off leash when walking around the pond.

Brush Pick Up: The City of Franklin offers brush pick up on May 6th as well as the Residential Brush Drop-off and Recycling Center. For more information, visit: /www.franklinwi.gov/Departments/Engineering-Public-Works/Solid-Waste-Collection--Recycling/Brush--Leaf-Pickups.htm

Exterior Home Improvements: Please remember that many exterior improvements such as sheds or fences must be approved by the board. If you are considering an exterior improvement, review the HOA Rules as posted on our website on the Association Documents tab.

Neighbor Spotlight: The Scherr Family

Terry and Lisa Scherr have lived at Lake Pointe since 1993 - before there was water in the lake. They decided to build their home and raise their son, Cody, in Franklin because of nature, open spaces, nice community and schools. The Scherr’s love their Lake Pointe neighbors and the peacefulness that surrounds them, especially when soaking up the sounds of nature.

Terry is retiring this June after 33 years as a custodial supervisor at the Whitefish Bay School District. He is past HOA president and also worked with retired environmental scientist, JoAnn Gillespie, to obtain a grant through the Watershed project to plant native Wisconsin plants around the pond. He loves his E-bike, and you may see him riding in the neighborhood. After 40 years, Lisa recently retired from her position as a scheduling/surgical coordinator. She loves gardening, whether it’s flowers or vegetables. They both love to travel and spend time outdoors.

UPDATES

SPRING PROJECT
This spring we will be focusing on restoring some of the wildflower beds. We have formed a landscape committee to do some of this work but will need additional volunteers for this and other work. As always, volunteers for these projects will earn service hour credit at a rate of $10 per hour, which is deducted from your annual dues. For more information or to volunteer, visit the Around the Pond page of our website

SPRING & THE POND

Fishing on the pond is reserved for residents and guests. Trespassing continues to be a problem for us. Left unchecked, trespassers will deplete the number of fish in our pond which could result in costly fish restocking. Additionally, these visitors also tend to be less respectful of our property and leave behind trash, fishing line and fishing lures. Please be sure to carry a Lake Pointe “bobber” with you when fishing down by the pond so we can identify who has the right to be there and who does not. If you need a new “ bobber” please contact us at lakepointeestates@gmail.com. If you are willing to help keep the pond for private use, please politely inform trespassers or call the Franklin Police Department.
